I took these photos of our Arctostaphylos refugioensis – Refugio Manzanita today. I planted it about 6 years ago and it is 6.5 ft high and growing in extremely compacted sidewalk strip soil. This strip gets a lot of traffic and trash, but this Manzanita blooms throughout the year – anytime it gets even a little water. However, i killed another one by watering it deeply twice in one summer, so i don’t recommend more than a couple of splashes in during the summer. It looks like it’s going to be a really good year for Manzanita blossoms.
